EcoBiH
EcoBiH runs a 1,500+ sheep operation where farmers managed everything on paper and memory. We visited the farm, interviewed employees, and mapped their workflows to understand what was breaking down. The core needs were clear: a simple interface that non-technical farmers could use, automated task management, and fast access to individual animal data.
Impact
- Cut task completion time by 50% with one-click work orders - Reduced animal search time by 10x through pen-based organization - Gave managers real-time farm performance data for faster, better decisions - Automated routine task scheduling, eliminating manual tracking overhead

Designing for Novice Users
We spent time on-site watching farmers work and talking through their daily routines. Most had never used digital management tools, so every design decision had to prioritize simplicity. We built the interface around the tasks they already do — just faster and with fewer steps.

Streamlined Task Management
We designed one-click completion for work orders so farmers can mark tasks done without navigating menus or filling out forms. A single tap closes out a job — keeping the tool fast enough that it doesn't slow down physical work.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency
We automated routine tasks like sheep weighing — the system schedules and generates them automatically. Farmers see upcoming tasks before they're due, eliminating the guesswork and manual tracking that used to eat into their day.

Improved Farm Navigation and Efficiency
We organized the farm digitally into pens so farmers can locate and track any sheep in seconds. This cut animal search time dramatically and gave the design a structure that scales cleanly as new features roll out in future phases.

Proactive Decision-Making in Admin Dashboard
We built an admin dashboard that surfaces key farm metrics — birth rates, death rates, herd size trends — in real time. Managers can spot problems early and act on data instead of waiting for end-of-week reports.

Informed Animal Care
We designed detailed health records for each sheep — medical treatments, vaccinations, and observations — all accessible in a few taps. Farmers can make care decisions with full history in front of them and stay compliant with local animal welfare regulations.

Enhanced Weight Monitoring
We built weight tracking that charts each sheep's fluctuations over time. Farmers can spot nutritional issues or health problems early and adjust feeding. Managers get a farm-wide view of feed requirements so they can plan procurement ahead of demand.

What's Next: NFC-Based Tracking
The next phase will add NFC chips to track each sheep's precise location, status, and breeding history in real time. This will close the last major visibility gap in daily operations — especially as the herd continues to grow. Once the hardware rollout is confirmed, we'll design the UX layer to make that data actionable for farmers and managers.

From Paper to a Digital Backbone
We took a farm that ran on paper and memory and gave it a digital backbone built for the people who actually use it. Task management, animal tracking, health records, and performance dashboards now work together in one system — and the design is ready to scale as EcoBiH grows its herd and adds NFC-based tracking.
